Sono Bello
Sono Bello is a nationwide network offering weight loss surgery. The line include micro-laser surgery and the ThinAir gastric balloon to decrease appetite.
The company aggressively advertises its programs on national TV. When I visited the site in 2019, they listed 60 locations.
The Sono Bello web site does not have information on the corporate structure. So, I had to take to the web and do some searching. This is what I discovered:
The private equity firm Garrison Capital (see below) was created in 2006 by Ed Garrison with headquarters in Scottsdale.
Dr. Thomas Garrison founded Aesthetic Physicians, PC and Sono Bello in 2006. It appears that Aesthetic Physicians is the medical practice and Sono Bello is primarily focused on marketing.
The headquarters for Aesthetic Physician are in Scottsdale, Az; however press releases indicate that the headquarters for Sono Bello are in Seattle, Wa.
The two web sites list the same locations.
Health care is regulation at the state level. So it is extremely difficult to roll out a national brand. Some news reports refer to the local clinics as franchises. I did notice that the reviews for different locations vary. If I were considering this service, I would research my local clinic and my local doctor carefully.
Holdings of Garrison Capital
Garrison Capital is a family owned private equity firm that was founded in 2008. The company had two web sites in Sept 2019: Garrison.Capital and GarrisoncapitalLLC.com. Both were out of date, but the first looked more recent. The sites listed the following investments:
- Sono Bello which offers weight loss surgery.
- Forever Slim Boutiques which is headquartered in Panama City and targets Latin America with women's clothes.
- Domus Global is a real estate and construction firm operating primarily in South Florida.
- Bio Path Medical engages in cancer research and markets therapies for acute myeloid leukemia (AML), chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and other challenging cancers.
- LifeStyle Evolve has a broken domain name.
- nCap is a company in Heber, Utah that develops nano capacitor antennas
- Maja Systems is a company in Milpitas, Ca which develops semiconductor technology.
- They have a link for MyDietician.com which URL forwards to Cappa Health which has an app that provides dietary advice.
